(Togo First) - Edoh Kossi Amenounve was born in Togo in 1967. He earned a master’s degree in economics from the University of Lomé in 1990, graduating first in his class. He went on to receive an MBA from Laval University in Canada in 1992 before completing a doctorate in administration and finance in 1995.

After returning to Togo, Amenounve served as chief executive of Société de Gestion et d’Intermédiation du Togo (SGI-Togo), later chaired an asset management company, and then became secretary-general of the Regional Council for Public Savings and Financial Markets (CREPMF), now the West African Economic and Monetary Union Financial Markets Authority (AMF-UMOA), based in Abidjan.

Since October 2012, he has served as chief executive of the Bourse Régionale des Valeurs Mobilières (BRVM) and the Central Depository/Settlement Bank (DC/BR). Under his leadership, the regional stock exchange has introduced several reforms, including the shift from call auctions to continuous trading.

Beyond the region, Amenounve was reappointed to a second three-year term on the Nasdaq Exchange Review Council, where he will serve through 2027. He remains the only African ever appointed to the council since it was established in 1971.

He also chairs AfricaFinLab and was reappointed as chair of the executive committee of the African Securities Exchanges Association (ASEA).

The BRVM posted a record performance in 2024, with market capitalization surpassing CFA10 trillion, an increase of 26.5%. The BRVM Composite Index rose 28.89%, making it the seventh-best-performing stock market in Africa, while the exchange listed 29 new bond issues.

In recognition of his contributions to the country’s financial sector, Amenounve was appointed an officer of the Order of Mono, one of Togo’s highest national honors, in 2019.
