Togo: Authorities plan to open a single desk for the exportation of soybeans at the autonomous port of Lomé

(Togo First) - Togolese authorities plan to set up a single desk for the exportation of soybeans at the Autonomous Port of Lomé (PAL). This is to ease and better monitor activities.

The project is among measures adopted between soybean producers, under the umbrella of the Soybeans Interprofessional Council (CIFS), and public policies.

The information was disclosed on the sidelines of the launch of the 2019-2020 soybean sales campaign in Togo at the end of last week in Atakpamé (161 km from Lomé). The launching ceremony was chaired by the minister of agriculture, Noel Bataka.

Through the establishment of this single desk, authorities wish to better manage the sales of soybeans, boost the sector, in a context where global demand for this crop, organic soybeans especially, is on the rise.

Other measures include better tracking of shipments, under the supervision of CIFS-Togo.

Let's recall that for the current campaign, the output expected is around 78,000 t with floor price set at XOF189/Kg.
