AfDB Pledges Support for Togo's 2026–2031 Development Roadmap

(Togo First) - The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) has pledged to support the implementation of Togo's next five-year development roadmap, which is currently being finalized. AfDB President Sidi Ould Tah made the commitment after meeting President of the Council Faure Gnassingbé in Lomé on July 2.
The two leaders reviewed the bank's current project portfolio in Togo and discussed how it could support the country's development strategy for 2026–2031. "We also discussed the African Development Bank Group's portfolio in Togo and the outlook for the government's roadmap over the next five years. We agreed that the Bank will fully support this roadmap," Ould Tah said.
According to him, aligning the bank's support with Togo’s new strategy should help improve project execution, accelerate disbursements, and shorten implementation timelines. The announcement reinforces the AfDB's role as one of the west African country's leading development partners. The institution finances projects across several priority sectors, including energy, agriculture, infrastructure, and social development.
The AfDB's active portfolio in Togo currently includes 26 projects with a combined commitment of CFA327.36 billion. The funding supports initiatives aimed at strengthening economic growth and improving living standards.
Togo's 2026–2031 government roadmap will be built around three strategic pillars: Protect, Unite, and Transform. According to the government, the plan is designed to accelerate the country's economic and social transformation while promoting greater inclusion and resilience.
