(Togo First) - Togolese broadcaster New World TV has announced a partnership with Orange Africa and Middle East (OMEA) to distribute its premium sports content through the Max it super-app across nine African countries.
The agreement covers Côte d'Ivoire, Senegal, Mali, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burkina Faso, the Central African Republic, Madagascar and Guinea.
Under the deal, Max it users will be able to access New World TV's sports channels, which hold broadcast rights to several major international competitions, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the UEFA Champions League, and multiple tournaments organized by FIFA, UEFA and CAF.
For the Lomé-based broadcaster, the partnership is about more than increasing visibility. New World TV is seeking to strengthen the commercial value of its broadcast rights portfolio at a time when audiences are increasingly consuming content through digital platforms and mobile devices. The agreement gives the company access to the more than 25 million users Orange says it serves across the region.
The announcement comes as the 2026 FIFA World Cup, hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, kicks off this week in an expanded format featuring 48 teams and 104 matches. For rights holders, the challenge is not only to ensure broad distribution across licensed markets but also to protect content from piracy and audience fragmentation.
The integration of New World TV's channels and content into the Max it ecosystem and Orange Money services is expected to make access to paid programming more convenient while expanding the broadcaster's commercial reach.
The Togo-based company is responsible for distributing the World Cup broadcast feed to 43 sub-Saharan African countries from Lomé.
