The Togo-EU Chamber of Commerce has finally been created

(Togo First) - Togo-based European companies and other local firms involved in trade affairs with Europe created a European Chamber of Commerce in Togo (CCET) on 3 June. This was during a Constitutive General Assembly in Lomé.

According to the promoters, the creation of this entity lies on the need to “structure trade while promoting sustainable investment, in response to Togo's new trade and economic development challenges.

With a general objective of “supporting the economic development of its members in a bilateral framework, CCET has some specific objectives as well. These include “representing the European business community in the Republic of Togo vis-à-vis public authorities, corporatist organizations and European bodies; easing the development and expansion of European companies in Togo; facilitating and multiplying exchanges with European countries’ national and regional chambers of commerce.

In that regard, the Chamber aims to “contribute to the economic integration of the sub-region, WAEMU and ECOWAS, in terms of trade and free movement of goods and services and sustainable development; promote industrial and commercial exchanges between Europe and Togo,” explained the founding members.

In addition, this structure should contribute to “improving the business climate of its host country Togo through the use of good practices and constructive dialog with national and regional authorities.

Let’s note the Togo-EU Chamber of Commerce is managed by a 9-member team headed by Charles Kokouvi Gafan, CEO of Bolloré Transport & Logistics Togo.
