(Togo First) - Beginning next school year, Togo will introduce a new training program leading to a professional bachelor’s degree in technical education. This initiative, jointly announced by the Ministries of Higher Education and Technical Education, aims to strengthen the teaching workforce in technical and vocational secondary education.
The program targets Baccalaureate holders aged 18 to 30 and will train future teachers in key disciplines including refrigeration and air conditioning, general mechanics, automotive mechanics, plumbing, and construction.

Training will be delivered at the National Institute for Vocational Training and Development (INFPP) in partnership with the National Institute of Educational Sciences (INSE) at the University of Lomé.
Authorities highlight that the goal is to elevate the status of technical and vocational education (TVE) while ensuring better supervision for students. “The structural transformation of our educational system requires better recognition of technical and vocational education. And it starts with the quality of its teachers,” said Isaac Tchiakpé, Minister of Technical Education.
This professional bachelor’s degree is part of a broader effort to professionalize the education sector and respond to the growing national demand for qualified technical professionals to support Togo’s development goals.
