INFA Tové, Swiss School Advance Cooperation on Agricultural Training and Climate

(Togo First) - A delegation from the Valais-Châteauneuf School of Agriculture in Switzerland visited the National Agricultural Training Institute (INFA) in Tové, Kpalimé, in late April, as part of a technical partnership established in April 2025.

The delegation was led by school director Raphaël Gaillard. The partnership is supported by Movetia, Switzerland’s national agency for education exchanges and mobility.

Discussions focused on strengthening agricultural skills and adapting curricula. They covered plant protection, soil management and fertility, water management, vegetable farming, and agricultural policies and markets.

The Swiss delegation met with INFA Director General Dr. Bamazi Bitang. They toured teaching facilities and training areas, attended classes, met students, and held meetings with teaching staff.

According to officials, the aim is to better align teaching methods with field conditions. Joint working groups have been set up to structure exchanges and address agricultural challenges, particularly those linked to climate and water.

The cooperation is based on mutual learning and aims to improve training quality and student employability.

Founded in 1949, INFA Tové offers programs from vocational baccalaureate to bachelor’s level.

After moving from the 133rd to 127th place under the 2020 Doing Business’ construction permit index, Togo intends to reiterate this feat in the coming edition of the global ranking. To this end, it has introduced this year multiple reforms.

Over the past two years, Togo’s ranking under the Doing Business’ Getting electricity and water indicator has increased consistently. Owing this performance to multiple reforms aimed at making it easier for businesses to access power and water, Lomé plans to introduce even more reforms this year to keep up its improvements.

Out of all the 'Doing Business’ indicators, Property Registration is where Togo has improved the most since 2018. Indeed, after spending years in the lowest part of this ranking, the country now seeks to beat Rwanda which is the best performer on this index in Africa. To do so, Lomé has been introducing many reforms, with the latest batch implemented this year.
