Togo's ATD backs nine EdTech startups targeting international markets

(Togo First) - Nine Togolese edtech startups have completed an incubation programme aimed at strengthening their position in Africa's fast-growing digital education market. The cohort comprises MainBridge, Edumiaa, Eforma Africa, ENOVSKY, Edufast, SKULLVI, Deezpro, Nufia and Mon Choix Ma Carrière.

The nine startups, two of them women-led, were selected from 39 applicants to take part in the accelerated e-learning programme.

From May 18 to 29, five participants travelled to Vienna, Austria, for an in-person study visit hosted by Common Sense, an organisation active in the European edtech sector. Four others took part remotely from the Djanta Tech Hub in Lomé.

The initiative is led by the Agence Togo Digital (ATD) with support from the ProDigiT programme of Germany's development agency GIZ.

Beyond technical training, the programme aims to help Togolese startups refine their business models and adapt their solutions to local market needs.

Over two weeks, participants worked on digital content design, the use of artificial intelligence in education, learning management systems, digital accessibility and growth strategies. They also assessed their projects against international standards and exchanged views with industry experts.

A new phase is now under way, with the startups set to participate in eLearning Africa, the continent's leading conference on educational innovation, which is being held this year in Accra. The most advanced projects will then receive additional support from the Djanta Tech Hub to accelerate their development.
