(Togo First) - Togo's government has introduced new channels for students to check their end-of-year exam results, starting with the 2026 first-part Baccalaureate (BAC 1).
In a communiqué issued on Sunday, the education ministry said candidates would be able to access their results free of charge through a web platform, WhatsApp and Telegram, alongside the traditional posting of results at examination centres.
According to the document signed by Minister Mama Omorou, results will be available on the official platform at http://resultats.gouv.tg, via WhatsApp at +228 92 14 38 38, or through a Telegram bot. Schools will continue to post lists of successful candidates once results are officially announced.
The authorities said the initiative forms part of broader efforts to modernise public education services and improve access to examination results for candidates and their families.
The announcement comes as results for the May 2026 BAC 1 session showed that 55,707 of 76,259 candidates passed, representing a pass rate of 73.05%, up from the previous year.
The reform also follows recent statements from the ministry indicating a move away from paid SMS-based result services operated through telecoms providers. The ministry said it planned to replace the system with free digital alternatives.
Under the previous arrangement, candidates could obtain their results by sending their examination number through a paid SMS service. The ministry said the mechanism imposed recurring costs on households and could create access difficulties during periods of high demand.
The authorities said the new result-checking services would gradually be extended to cover all national school examinations.
