(Togo First) - Consultations are continuing in Togo as the government prepares its next national roadmap for 2026-2031. Following an initial round of discussions in Lomé with development partners, private sector representatives and several public institutions, authorities met with stakeholders from the Maritime Region in Tsévié on Wednesday, May 13.
The meeting, jointly organized by the Office of the President of the Council and the Ministry of Development Planning and Cooperation, brought together prefects, mayors, heads of decentralized state agencies and civil society representatives. Additional regional consultations are expected across the country in the coming days.
The exercise aims to identify local priorities that will feed into the future national strategy, built around three strategic priorities set by the President of the Council: “Protect, Unite and Transform.”
The Tsévié meeting also provided an opportunity to review the implementation of the 2020-2025 roadmap in the Maritime Region. According to figures presented during the discussions, the Togolese economy maintained average annual growth of nearly 6% despite geopolitical tensions, climate shocks and the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Several indicators specific to the Maritime Region were highlighted. The Tinga mechanism enabled 25,003 households to connect to the national electricity grid, while the Cizo programme distributed more than 60,000 solar kits. In agriculture, more than 37,000 tonnes of fertilizer and 424 tonnes of certified seeds were distributed during the period.
Participants also submitted recommendations on road infrastructure, flood management, road safety, the fight against gender-based violence and strengthening local governments.
