Togo Launches Truck Driver Training Program to Support Logistics Sector

(Togo First) - Togo's National Employment Agency (ANPE) on Tuesday, June 30, launched a professional truck driver training and certification program for 320 young Togolese in Lomé.

The program will be delivered in four cohorts of 80 participants. The first 160 candidates have already been selected through a nationwide recruitment campaign, while a second recruitment round will fill the remaining places.

Upon completing the training, participants will receive a Category E driver's license and a Professional Qualification Certificate (CQP) before being recruited by partner companies.

According to Kossi Tsiglo, ANPE's director general, the program is designed to meet the evolving needs of Togo's economy.

He said the country had made significant investments in the logistics sector in recent years and was positioning itself as a regional logistics hub. Those investments, he added, require a skilled workforce capable of supporting an efficient logistics system.

The training will take place in two phases. The first will focus on obtaining a Category E driver's license, followed by a professional qualification module covering road safety, fuel-efficient driving, transport regulations and workplace best practices.

The initiative forms part of Togo's broader efforts to strengthen workforce skills in strategic sectors while addressing growing demand for qualified drivers from logistics and transport companies.
