Traffic restrictions planned on RN1 over Kara River bridge works

(Togo First) - Traffic on National Route 1 in Kara will be disrupted between May 28 and June 28, 2026, along the Awandjélo-Tomdè junction section due to construction work, including the expansion of the bridge over the Kara River.

According to a joint statement issued by the ministries in charge of Security, Transport and Public Works, the disruption will mainly affect heavy transport convoys involved in the bridge project. Restrictions will apply daily from midnight to 4 a.m. throughout the period.

Authorities said temporary signage, safety measures and traffic diversions would be introduced to facilitate traffic flow during the works.

Road users and residents living along the busy corridor are urged to exercise caution, comply with traffic signs and follow instructions from officers stationed along the route.
