Togo gathers proposals from Greater Lomé authorities for 2026-2031 roadmap

(Togo First) - The steering committee tasked with drafting Togo's 2026-2031 policy roadmap met on Tuesday with municipal authorities from the Greater Lomé area to gather local input for the government's next reform agenda.

The May 26 meeting followed consultations previously held across the country's regions. It brought together the mayors of Greater Lomé's 13 municipalities and officials from the Autonomous District of Greater Lomé (DAGL).

During the session, the committee presented the results of the implementation of the 2020-2025 roadmap, outlined remaining challenges and lessons learned, and collected proposals from participants for the upcoming roadmap.

Etsri Homevor, adviser to the President of the Council, said the current roadmap had achieved significant progress despite several difficulties encountered during implementation.

He described the consultations as essential because they help authorities identify the needs of the population, adapt public policies to local conditions, mobilize local stakeholders and strengthen national cohesion around a shared vision.

The upcoming roadmap is structured around three strategic pillars: "Protect, Unite and Transform." It aims to sustainably improve living conditions for the Togolese population, according to Homevor.

He added that adjustments to the government's approach were necessary given the evolving regional and international environment, which he described as increasingly uncertain.

The consultations, launched several days ago, have already included exchanges with local authorities, economic operators, traditional chiefs and development partners as the government prepares its next public policy framework.
