Sokodé hosts regional edition of “Made in Togo” fair

(Togo First) - The central Togolese city of Sokodé is hosting a new regional edition of the “Made in Togo” fair, which opened on May 26, 2026. Organized by the Centre togolais des expositions et foires (CETEF Togo 2000) at the municipal stadium, the event runs through May 28.

Held with the support of the Ministry of Trade and Quality Control, the fair aims to encourage the consumption of locally made products and promote Togolese entrepreneurship.

The event comes as the government seeks to strengthen local value addition, support small and medium-sized enterprises, and reduce dependence on imports as part of its broader industrialization strategy.

At the opening ceremony, administrative authorities, business leaders, artisans and agri-food processors highlighted the contribution of “Made in Togo” products to job creation and the promotion of local know-how. Officials from the Tchaoudjo prefecture, the Tchaoudjo 1 municipality and regional trade authorities attended the ceremony.

The fair brings together exhibitors from several sectors, including crafts, textiles, gastronomy, agri-food, natural cosmetics and technological innovation. Organizers say the event is intended to give local producers greater market exposure and opportunities to build partnerships with distributors and investors.

The choice of Sokodé reflects efforts to decentralize economic and commercial activities that have long been concentrated in Lomé. One of the Central region’s main commercial hubs, the city occupies a strategic position in trade flows linking different parts of the country.

Beyond showcasing products, the fair is also expected to help create new business opportunities for local entrepreneurs and strengthen networks between producers, traders and institutional stakeholders.
