Yas Parent AXIAN Secures €300M Proparco Deal for African Digital, Energy Expansion

(Togo First) - AXIAN Group has signed a strategic partnership with French development finance institution Proparco, providing up to 300 million euros in financing over the next three years to accelerate the development of digital and energy infrastructure across Africa.

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the Africa Forward Summit, held in Nairobi on May 11-12, 2026. AXIAN is participating through its telecom brand Yas and its subsidiary AXIAN Energy. Proparco operates in developing and emerging countries and is affiliated with the AFD.

AXIAN, which is present in Togo through Yas Togo, intends to strengthen its investments in telecommunications, digital services, energy and financial inclusion across several African markets.

The new partnership covers mobile and fixed networks, data centers, renewable energy projects, mini electrical grids and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

Digital and Energy Infrastructure

On the digital side, the partners aim to extend connectivity, particularly in rural and underserved areas. Data center development is also among their priorities, to support local data storage and processing capacity.

"This partnership with Proparco gives us additional means to scale solutions that already serve tens of millions of Africans, and to reach those who still lack the basics," said Hassanein Hiridjee, chief executive of AXIAN Group.

On the energy side, cooperation will focus on solar, hydroelectric and wind projects, as well as battery storage solutions and decentralized power grids. The partners also plan to invest in energy services for telecom infrastructure.

Other agreements involving Lomé-based actors were also signed on the sidelines of the summit. Ecobank and BOAD each signed separate partnerships with Proparco, covering the financing of African agricultural value chains and private sector support in the UEMOA zone, respectively.
