Togo Extends Registration Deadline for Free Vocational Training Program for Vulnerable Young Women

(Togo First) - Togo has extended the application deadline for “École de la Chance,” a free vocational training program targeting vulnerable young women in the Autonomous District of Greater Lomé (DAGL), to June 20, 2026.

The initial deadline had been set for May 20, but authorities granted a one-month extension following a surge in applications at registration centers. The pilot phase of the initiative aims to train 1,500 Togolese women aged 18 to 24 who are unemployed, out of school, or seeking vocational opportunities.

The program is being rolled out under the regional SWEDD+ project, supported by the World Bank. It is coordinated by the Ministry of Development Planning, with support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Union of Regional Chambers of Trades (UCRM).

Training sessions will last between three and six months and will focus on skills suited to self-employment and small income-generating activities. Courses offered include sewing, hairdressing, embroidery, wig-making, beauty care, and manicure and pedicure services.

Applications can be submitted free of charge at several registration centers across Greater Lomé or online through a digital platform accessible via QR code.

Over the longer term, the SWEDD+ program aims to support more than 105,000 girls and young women in Togo through initiatives focused on education, employability, and financial empowerment.
