Togo launches FAO-supported call for forest restoration projects in Plateaux region

(Togo First) - The Country Office of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Togo has launched a call for proposals to support forest restoration initiatives in the western part of the Plateaux region, as part of the implementation of the AFR100 initiative.

The call is open to agricultural and forestry producer organizations, community-based organizations, women’s and youth groups, micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises, NGOs, associations and other local actors involved in environmental management and rural development.

Eligible projects must focus on forest restoration, agroforestry development and sustainable income-generating activities in the prefectures of Kloto, Agou, Danyi, Amou and Kpélé.

According to the FAO, proposed projects should contribute to restoring forest landscapes, conserving biodiversity, developing high-potential agricultural and forestry value chains, and improving the livelihoods of local communities.

Selected projects will be implemented over a period of up to 12 months. Two categories of grants are available. Small grants range from 3 million CFA francs ($5,200) to 8.5 million CFA francs, while medium-sized grants may reach 28 million CFA francs.

Applications will be accepted until June 19, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. local time, the FAO said.

The AFR100 Togo project aims to restore degraded forest landscapes and lands while promoting sustainable forest management. Under the initiative, Togo has committed to restoring 1.4 million hectares.

At the continental level, AFR100 seeks to restore 100 million hectares of degraded land across Africa by 2030.
