UNDP injected over CFA2 billion to protect biodiversity in Togo, in 2020

(Togo First) - This year, the UNDP invested $3.8 million (around CFA2 billion) in projects aimed at protecting the environment and biodiversity in Togo. This is one of the information disclosed yesterday, at the institution’s annual review of programs and projects implemented in the country. 

Overall, the UNDP (which has been active in Togo since 1977) backed around 30 projects, at a cost of more than $11 million (environmental projects included), in 2020.

Regarding the green projects the organization backed in the country, they aim to foster and manage natural resources, boost communities’ resilience to climate change and related disasters. For example, in February 2020, the UNDP injected $286,000 in environmental and climate projects - projects launched by nine (9) civil society organizations.
