(Togo First) - Cameroonian banker Guy Martial Awona, who trained at some of Africa’s leading financial institutions, began his career as a relationship manager, analyst and later risk director at major banking groups including Citibank, Société Générale and Ecobank in Cameroon and Chad.

He later held several chief executive positions across the Ecobank Group, serving in Cameroon, Cabo Verde, and São Tomé and Príncipe. He then joined Orabank, first in Gabon in 2015, before becoming Chief Executive Officer of Orabank Togo in April 2018.

He leads Orabank Togo, which serves more than 440,000 customers through a network of 39 branches across the country, around 100 automated teller machines and a workforce of 500 employees.

Under his leadership, the bank has strengthened its position among the leading lenders in Togo’s banking sector, particularly in corporate and SME financing.

In March 2025, his responsibilities expanded to the regional level when Guy Martial Awona was appointed president of the Federation of Professional Associations of Banks and Financial Institutions of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (FAPBEF-UEMOA) at a Federal Council meeting held in Lomé.
